AGRI-KING BEEF COW PROGRAMME

Agri-King’s Beef Programme provides personalised rations for beef producers to improve herd profitability. The goal is to meet the nutritional needs of all classes of beef cattle and optimise herd health and performance. This is achieved through precisely-balanced rations and highly-fortified products.

The key to profitability is the understanding that feed is a major cost, so it is crucial to maximise its effectiveness through ration balance and live weight gain. It is a simple measure of output of meat per kilo of dry matter intake.

INDUSTRY-LEADING FORTIFICATION PRODUCTS FOR BEEF CATTLE

All of Agri-King’s beef cow programme fortification products are formulated using the latest research and provide feed efficiency at all stage of the cattle lifecycle and beef production. While our enzyme technology aids forage production, we can also provide a range of additives and supplements at the point of feed.

The aim is to extract as many nutrients as possible from available feed, maximising efficiency. This includes yeast, fibre and starch digestion enzymes, and world-leading levels of vitamin and mineral fortification.

Our Approach

Key Components of a
Finishing Beef Nutrition Programme

The mainstay of beef production, a finishing beef nutrition programme should involve a balanced and well-managed diet to optimise growth, muscle development and overall health of the cattle.

Nutritional requirement vary based on factors such as the breed, age, weight and the presence or absence of forage in the diet.

WITH FORAGE:

  • High Quality Forage
Access to high-quality forage such as good pasture or conserved forages such as grass, wholecrop or maize silage is crucial. Pasture should be rotated to ensure supply of fresh forage and prevent overgrazing.
  • Well-Balanced Concentrate Feed
Concentrate feed should complement the forage and contain essential nutrients such as energy, protein, minerals and vitamin. Cereal grains should be included for energy, and oilseed meals for protein.
  • Supplement Vitamins and Minerals
Cattle should receive adequate levels of essential minerals such as calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, and trace minerals such as copper and zinc. Vitamins, A and E especially, should be supplemented.
  • Monitor and Adjust Regularly
Body condition, weight gain and overall health of cattle should be monitored and forage-to-concentrate ratio adjusted based on growth stage and nutritional requirements.

WITHOUT FORAGE:

  • High-Quality Concentrate Feed
In the absence of forage, you should rely on concentrate feeds with a mix of energy-rich grains, protein sources and essential minerals to meet the nutritional needs of finishing cattle.
  • Supplement Fibre
To mimic the fibre content found in forages, fibrous components should be included in the diet. By-products like beet pulp or soy hulls can be added to achieve this.
  • Supplement Protein
An adequate supply of protein can be achieved through the inclusion of protein-rich feeds such as soybean meal or other supplements.
  • Supplement Vitamins and Minerals
As with forage, cattle should receive adequate levels of essential minerals such as calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, and trace minerals such as copper and zinc. Vitamins, A and E especially, should be supplemented.
  • Access to Water
Especially as compensation for the lack of moisture content in forages, access to clean and fresh water should be available at all times.
  • Monitor and Adjust Regularly
Body condition, weight gain and overall health of cattle should be monitored diet composition adjusted accordingly. Feedstuffs, especially by-product feeds, should be regularly tested to check diet composition is still optimal.
