Ru-Max®
Ru-Max® is a ground-breaking combination product that includes live yeast, yeast cultures and enzyme technology to improve feed efficiency in all classes of dairy cattle.
It is designed to treat forages and mixed rations to improve digestibility and nutrient availability, and to help promote rumen balance and rumen efficiency when the treated forage or mixed ration is fed to cattle.
Results from a trial carried out on UK and Irish farms showed a significant improvement in dry matter digestibility, which increases the nutrient availability from the ration, which can lead to an improvement in health and fertility and either an increase in production for the same intake or a reduction in dry matter intake for the same production.
Dairy cow diets from farms in the United Kingdom and Ireland were shown to be more digestible with the application of RU-MAX®, while digestibility data was used to produce estimates of daily methane production per 100 cows via IPCC-recommended equations.
What do these differences mean?
With greater digestibility in feed supplemented with RU-MAX®, the amount of methane produced per day by 100 cows dropped by one kilogram. Across an entire year, that would result in 365 kilograms less methane being produced on one 100-cow farm.
